We’ve always kept an eye on Soneva, it epitomises the future of hospitality. The brand isn’t new, but the properties are well known within the industry for being the epitome of luxury, sustainability and service. While Soneva Fushi, situated in the Maldives might be the longest serving property in the portfolio, Soneva Jani – its younger Maldivian sister – has taken its pristine resort to a whole new level.
“We are delighted to introduce guests to Soneva Jani Chapter Two,” says Sonu Shivdasani, Founder and CEO of Soneva. “As we continue to celebrate Soneva’s 25th anniversary into the middle of 2021, Chapter Two will mark the start of an exciting new era for Soneva Jani. At this milestone moment in our story, we will continue to set the standard for sustainable luxury with even more choices of exquisite accommodation, remarkable gastronomy and rare, unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Soneva Jani has now increased its footprint, with the launch of no less than 27 mind-boggling-large overwater villas, which have been carefully positioned to maximise privacy and create a true sense of seclusion. In comparison to many resorts, the property still remains incredibly intimate which is why its of such appeal to celebrities and business magnates who are just looking to enjoy simplistic bare-foot luxury.

The real news however is that when guests book a stay in any of the Chapter Two overwater or island villas, they get to experience Soneva Unlimited, an indulgent new offering that invites guests to enjoy every facet of Soneva Jani to their heart’s desire, all included in the price of the villa. And we’ve experienced All-inclusive before at many different resorts, but this being Soneva – have taken the concept above and beyond the competition.
Soneva Unlimited includes unlimited: dining at all bars, restaurants (including the three new outlets at the resort) and in-villa Dining; alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at all bars and restaurants; visiting Michelin-starred chef dinners and experiences; wines from the Soneva Unlimited list; experiences, diving, and children’s experiences; and spa treatments. Also included under Soneva Unlimited is a dedicated Barefoot Butler, return shared seaplane transfers from Malé, daily laundry service, and daily replenishment of the in-villa minibar.
For those wanting to wanderlust and whet the appetite, they even have a menu of what’s included to scroll through. And for those wondering about travel during COVID, the hotel has taken extreme measures to ensure their guests are safe, tested and comfortable during the entire arrival process, Soneva Jani even has its own COVID testing centre on the island, one of only a handful hotels in the world to do so.
Jani isn’t the only resort to get some love in 2020 though. Those who want to explore the original Soneva Fushi, can enjoy now also enjoy a range of overwater villas, the largest in the world, with one bedroom villas clocking in at over 6,000sq ft. One thing is for sure, our wanderlust is in overdrive, and for those wanting to escape, Soneva still hits all the right notes for us.
